Same as me, but if you have only this command in your ~/.xinitrc
then it is wrong. This is how I start KDE Plasma:
exec dbus-launch --exit-with-x11 ck-launch-session startplasma-x11
dbus-launch
makes sure that the session bus is started before anything else, so no one would spuriosly spawn one. Then ck-launch-session
makes necessary arrangements for Polkit and only then the DE startup code runs. I suggest you to use the same format of the command.
startxfce4
Ok, I was wrong, being in wheel
is not enough. How do you start your graphical session? Is it via startx
or some display manager?
I am in the wheel group, but I first needed to make this file in my /usr/local/etc/polkit-1/rules before it would work: https://gist.github.com/Scrumplex/8f528c1f63b5f4bfabe14b0804adaba7?permalink_comment_id=4514885#gistcomment-4514885
Why isn't such a file created by default? Is everybody installing bsdisks going to experience these errors?
Oh, and
I didn't met this issue, because my user is in wheel
.
If the last command exited with code 0
then everything is fine on the Polkit side.
The policy for filesystem-mount
is declared in the following way:
<defaults>
<allow_any>auth_admin</allow_any>
<allow_inactive>auth_admin</allow_inactive>
<allow_active>yes</allow_active>
</defaults>
There are 2 things that are happening here:
allow_active
case has lower priority than allow_any
. I'm not sure if it is FreeBSD (or, rather, ConsoleKit-on-FreeBSD) bug or an intended behaviour.allow_any
case comes in play and Polkit treats root
and wheel
group members as "admins". Your user isn't in the wheel
group?Thank you. With Thunar having pid 2773:
$ pkcheck -a org.freedesktop.udisks2.filesystem-mount -p 2773
Authorization requires authentication and -u wasn't passed.
$ pkcheck -a org.freedesktop.udisks2.filesystem-mount -p 2773 -u
Authorization requires authentication but no agent is available.
$ pkcheck -a org.freedesktop.udisks2.filesystem-mount -p 2773 -u --enable-internal-agent
==== AUTHENTICATING FOR org.freedesktop.udisks2.filesystem-mount ====
Authentication is required to mount the filesystem
Authenticating as: DJ (dj)
Password:
==== AUTHENTICATION COMPLETE ====
What am I supposed to get?
There might be several causes to this. Let's start with running pkcheck -a org.freedesktop.udisks2.filesystem-mount -p xxx
, where xxx is a PID of some process inside your graphical session (a file manager, for instance)
On FreeBSD 14.0, with both bsdisks 0.34 and 0.35, when in any file manager I click a plugged in USB drive to mount it, I get an error dialog with:
Error
Failed to mount "16 GB Volume".
Not authorized.

Any ideas?

Can you add more verbose information to camcontrol failed
