Harlowe 3.2.0 breaks loading times
I have just updated Twine to 3.2.10 and the new version of Harlowe is causing the following issues on my project:
- Using "Test story starting here" on a passage causes a black screen for ~25 seconds before the result finally shows.
Using the "Test" feature also causes a very significant delay when running the story.
After some troubleshooting, I have noticed that disabling my startup passages that initiate variables reduces this time. I have 4 startup passages with a total of ~250 variable initiations. On the previous versions this never caused an issue.
- Using variable setting inside the (link:) macro causes the next passage to flicker. For example:
(link:"press me")[ (set: $var1 to 0) (set: $var2 to 0) (set: $var3 to 0) (set: $var4 to 0) (set: $var5 to 0) (goto:"Next")]
I have not managed to 100% reliably tell which commands cause the most flickering, but I've managed to narrow it down to this, because simple links do not cause the flicker, whereas (link:) macros do. The more commands that there are inside, the more noticeable the flicker. Likewise this was not the case before.
The flickering is extremely noticeable in the first few passages of my project (see attachment).
I am attaching my project to help demonstrate the problems.Transylvania0.2.18_new.html
