Official Audio Support request
Hello Leon,
With the release of Harlowe 3.3.0 and the changes to how JS interacts with Harlowe, the unofficial audio support HAL is no longer working and Chapel has stated that he does not plan to fix or maintain it for future versions.
This fact makes an otherwise stellar release practically unusable for myself and hundreds of others that rely on persistent background audio across multiple passages (among other important features of audio support).
For a little more context behind my words, I am one of the most active users on the #harlowe channel of the official Twine Discord. Over the last 3-4 years I've been answering questions there daily and helping new users get familiar with this fantastic format. Audio support is in the top 5 most common topics. Myself alone have helped over 50 people troubleshoot HAL (I checked history), and this does not count the many others who are also helping. The only reason I am mentioning all of this is to emphasize that the "hundreds of users" I'm talking about is a very real estimate and not some sort of hyperbole to try to give more weight to my own opinion.
In addition to the above, issues with audio and the general difficulty with setting a third party resource has been one of the leading causes of people leaving the format for alternatives.
As it stands, if no official audio support is added, the top layer of Harlowe power users, myself included, will be left with no choice but to stay behind on 3.2.3.
