Empty header-, startup-, and footer-tagged passages "crash" the game.
(Greyelf initially discovered this issue and mentioned it on the Discord, but he was busy so I did a little testing myself and created this issue. He may have more to add, though.)
If you have an empty passage tagged with header
, footer
, or startup
(I imagine the debug
style tags also apply), the game will error with jQuery.Deferred exception: s is undefined...
in the console and none of the story elements (tw-story
and others) will render, you'll just get a white screen. Notably, this happens even if you have multiple of each type of tagged passage, as long as one so-tagged passage exists that is empty.
Just to make sure, I tested (display:)
and it works fine with empty passages.
I do not know if this is a new behavior as of 3.3.0 but it doesn't happen in Harlowe 2.
Tested in Twine 2.4.0 and Tweego 2.1.1, and both result in the same issue, so it's probably not due to changes in Twine.
Steps to Reproduce
Just create a passage tagged startup
and leave it empty, then attempt to run the file.
