Read The Docs integration: fixing class reference in Project · 75ca31a5edb0
      Georges Racinet authored
The case of the class name was wrong.
This was found by the (not present yet in GitLab 14.2.6) Integrations
API RSpec tests on GitLab 14.4, affecting apparently only the DELETE
call. Impact in Heptapod 0.25 is not clear, but the fact remains that
      the case was wrong.

As explained in the comment we can't do that kind of check anyway.

      into hard errors.

      Merged and adapted upstream v14.2.0 · 6b4db912f516
      Georges Racinet authored
Outstanding adaptation notes and things to be taken care of:
      - Workhorse: Golang package was renamed upstream from
        `.../gitlab-org/gitlab-workhorse` to `.../gitlab-org/gitlab/workhorse`.
Had to follow suit in Heptapod specific code.
      - Remote mirrors: the `inmemory_remote` boolean argument an
corresponding feature flag don't exist any more (the feature is already
standard, was introduced in 14.0, see
This is orthogonal to Mercurial mirroring, yet an API breaking change.
      - Adapted `Projects::ImportService` for disparition of
      - Renamed module `Gitlab::VCS` to `Gitlab::Vcs` to satisfy what seems
        to be new auto-loading rules.
      - HGitaly client-side adaptations:
+ worked around new `ListCommits` Gitaly method (not implemented in
HGitaly) by ignoring feature flag been `true` in Mercurial case.
See hgitaly#72 for more details and follow-ups.
+ adapted our changes to `Gitlab::Git::Tree` for
`CommitService.tree_entries` now returning also a cursor (dumb
adaptation, what these cursors do is to be investigated)

Project creation: custom message for users without enough rights · 24598c7a16e2
      Georges Racinet authored
This allows instance Administrators to customize the message displayed
to users that don't have any creation rights in place of the 'New Project'
The message is rendered with Markdown, for easy links to documentation etc.
For instance, on foss.heptapod.net, it could state that project creation
is upon approval, and link to the `Hosting Request` issue creation form.

New project forms: wet blanket diversion if user can't create · 0e565ee570fd
      Georges Racinet authored
      Related to #457
Since upstream continuously add new ways to reach the "New project"
pages, it makes sense to have them display a very clear message
      instead of buggy forms.
In its present form, the message is crude and has no styling, but
it can be worked on further in its separate HAML template.
A follow-up could be to let Administrators define a custom message,
      with perhaps links to instructions.
If it gets good enough, we could stop intercepting the links to
the "New Project" page, which would be clearer to users than not
finding where to create projects and believing this to be a bug.
Finally, I've tried a finer way to introduce the conditional, to
affect less lines, but it didn't work. We will certainly get lots
of easy-to-fix boring conflicts because of this.
Perhaps it's time to submit the whole feature set to UPSTREAM

RSpec setup: proper waiting for HGitaly · 6e7eae6b00e9
      Georges Racinet authored
We couldn't do it right at the time HGitaly appeared because
it wasn't Unix Domain socket capable (and it didn't look to
be critical, given the setup startup times of other components,
hence we did not make the effort to adapt the `wait` method to
      TCP sockets).
Nowadays, doing it is a minimal effort, so here we are.

RSpec setup: split HGitaly preparations into setup/start · a1c02763614b
      Georges Racinet authored
We already had a separate `start_hgitaly` method but it was
called directly by `setup_hgitaly`, but now that setup methods
are called in parallel with the `Parallel` lib that does
multiprocessing by default, the `at_exit` hook defined
in `start_hgitaly` was registered for a subprocess that exits
immediately, hence killing the HGitaly server.
We solve the issue by calling `start_hgitaly` separately, as
upstream already was doing with `start_gitaly`.

Merge with upstream GitLab 14.1.0 and adaptation · 2593f7729635
      Georges Racinet authored
First iteration, passes functional tests with `--heptapod-remote` and
those with `-m fs_access`. Comprehensive RSpec run to be done by CI.
Various notes and things to test manually:
        - Admin area: help messages about user approval/ban/delete/reactivate have
switched from HAML templates to VueJS.
        - the rename of project services as integrations (same terminology
as in the UI) is complete.
        - same remarks as in merge of 14.0.0 (eaf3be02fbc4) in the heptapod-stable
branch, since they were done independently.
      Things to solve:
        - RSpec tests: still have process management issues for the HGitaly
server, CI should not be affected (server is spawned separately,
          not by `TestEnv` class)
        - `gdk start rails-background-jobs` does not work for me, but
launching in foreground from a terminal does.
        - doubts about SSH keys management (sync of `authorized_keys` file,
but could related with sidekiq not running at the time it was
        - Gitaly protocol upgrade in HGitaly
