When overlays active, and motion detection fires, the 70D crashes. It looks it is between saving proces of the RAW\+jpg and the review on screen.
Reproducable on my device.
Additional information:
When overlays off: motion detection works, motion detection window is clear
When overlays on: motion detection window is greyed, and moves within viewfinder - live screen. \(probably related, but maybe different issue?\)

Mercurial: 7a3b5fa3f4c6 \(unified\) tip
**Issue:**
Shutter speed changes to 1/8000 when >30s && bracket amount >3 && initial shutter speed <=1/2000.
No permanent damage to camera.
**ML Settings:**
Adv. Bracket:
Bracket type: Exposure \(Tv, Ae\)
Frames: 4 → \(1/2000 … RAW:-48\)
EV increment: 8
Sequence: 0 \+ \+\+
2-second delay: OFF
ISO shifting: OFF
**Camera Settings:**
Mode:M
T=2000
A=22 \(Lens not chipped!\)
ISO=100
Two memory cards inserted, ML runs from 2GB micro with SD adapter. Other is 64GB 160MB/s CF card.
**Notes:**
Error even if EV increment < 8
Same settings with T set to 1/2500 set range to RAW:-45 _← this does not look like 1/3 difference to 48, maybe my math is off._
5D mark II \(2\) suffers from the same issue.
**Secondary problem**: interrupting the sequence by half-pressing the shutter button resets time counter but continues sequence. If interrupted by shutter half-press followed by random keypressing \(e. g. trash/ML button\) “CARD” is displayed on top LCD and regular beeping is heard in <1s intervals until camera turned off. Probably an error due to interruption while writing to card. If sequence interrupted by turning camera off directly T resets to 1/8000. Works fine after restart, just possibly symptoms.https://foss.heptapod.net/magic-lantern/magic-lantern/-/issues/29335D MKii file save issue2020-06-26T12:50:47ZBitbucket Importer5D MKii file save issue*Created originally on Bitbucket by [JoshuaWoodPhotography (Joshua Wood)](https://bitbucket.org/%7Bfaa6fa16-253b-42f6-8956-94e734ee371b%7D/)*

Hello,
I recently installed the latest version of ML from probably a 4 year old build and I've noticed that it saves quite a few files that have symbols .CR2, .JPG, and .MOV
(Example: #-_}?$&[.CR2 - not an actual file name, just to show you what I mean)
I'm not sure if I'm losing photos as I can not remember what all I shot each day..
When attempting to open the files, it gives the invalid location pop-up as if you were trying to open a file that no longer exists or the drive has been removed.
I've just uninstalled the latest build and went back to the next oldest build and also manually reset my file numbering because I noticed the issue right after I rolled over IMG_9999. I'm not sure if that was the issue or if that was purely coincidental.
I'll make due with the older build for now, but hopefully I can update again someday!https://foss.heptapod.net/magic-lantern/magic-lantern/-/issues/2932Canon 6D 1.1.6 Press SET at power on to bypass ML but failed2022-05-08T09:31:05ZBitbucket ImporterCanon 6D 1.1.6 Press SET at power on to bypass ML but failed*Created originally on Bitbucket by [oswald_lai (Oswald)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B8b05ae84-0dec-4d6c-b429-60dcf91eb166%7D/)*

You need an rather old-fashioned lens like 50/1.8 I or II, EF 100/2.8 Macro and a newer one. Any STM should do and so does EF 100/2.8 L IS Macro. Don't know about other lenses fitting the scheme.
Any more recent nightly build would do fine and it doesn't matter if Digic 4 or Digic 5 cam involved.
Steps to reproduce (used 7D and 650D):
- Preparation: Restore ML defaults (you may backup your ML/Settings dir to restore custom settings after test) and shutdown cam. Set lens to MF.
1) Testing "old" lens
- Remove battery, insert battery and powerup cam in photo mode.
- In Canon's QC menu set aperture to lowest number (wide open).
- Open ML menu and access Expo tab. Turn off ExpSim and turn Expo. Override ON.
- Enter LiveView. You may change shutter and ISO to get a proper view in LV. Do NOT change aperture! If you have accidently changed aperture -> Begin from 1) again.
- Press Trashcan button to access ML menu
- Highlight "Aperture" menu item and press set -> You are in Liveview again and "Aperture" menu item is visible in LV.
- Now turn top wheel one notch contra-clockwise. You should see number in "Aperture" changing to highest number available for this lens. And screen goes dark immediately after turning wheel.
- Check aperture blades. They should be properly adjusted to chosen aperture. (If unsure: Leave LV and use DOF preview button to compare).
(You can play around with top wheel if you want. Should do fine. Report if not!)
- Restore ML defaults, shutdown cam and remove battery.
2) Test "new" lens designs.
- Mount lens and insert battery.
If you have accidently changed aperture -> Begin from 2 again.
- Now things won't work the way you expect. I think you may see some laggish response or even none after turning the wheel. Try turning wheel until screen goes darker. Maybe you have to force it by half-pressing shutter button (not sure about this one).
After screen goes darker check aperture blades position. You may observe they are not as closed as they should be! You may cross check leaving liveview and using DOF preview button.
And don't forget to remove your battery after 2) completed. Menu may behave strange, too. And camera shutdown by power button is only optional, I suppose. ;-)

Then cam will calculate focus for each pic and stores them in order of focus precision. Number 0 will go to best focus, highest number to least focussed.
Works as designed, I suppose.
What 650D does:
Most images viewed during in-cam processing and in Photoshop are garbled, only about 1-3 pics are not messed up. Lowest numbered pic (always good) doesn't seem to be the best focussed.
Don't know if other D5 cams are working or not.
Minor issue: Wording. Says "Best focus" in submenu, "Best Shots" in Shoot menu.

Hi,
First, thank you so much to the Magic Lantern developers: I am a huge fan and almost every-day user.
My configuration:
canon 5D Mark III firmware 1.2.3 with Canon Zoom 24-105 T4 II
magiclantern-crop_rec_4k.2018Jul22.5D3123
Ronin S gimbal firmware v1.7.0.60
I love 14bit Lossless so much that I can’t imagine using Magic Lantern without it… It makes things so light and simple.
Unfortunatly I am facing a bug when I try to remote the rec/stop function of my 5D through the miniUSB cable: when I use the rec button on my Dji Ronin-S or when I use the app CANON UTILITY to remote the « rec » function on my laptop. There’s no problem shooting RAW (with mlv_lite module) as long as I don’t use « 14bit lossless » Data Format. If I do so and if I start recording, It ends up with this kind of disturbing message on the canon monitor (see picture)
and I also find an "ASSERT" file on my card (read in attachments)
Unfortunatly I'm facing this bug even if I use 1.1.3 canon firmare.
I also try different ratios (16/9 or 2.35): same bug.
with or without sound: same bug.
with or without crop mode module: same bug.
Anyone have an idea to get around this issue ?… I’m not sure, but couldn’t it be a problem with the « Rec Trigger » function in the RAW Module? (even if I always put it off)
For the moment, the only way to make the bug dissapear is:
- to give up with 14bit LOSSLESS and come back to classic 14bit
OR
- to unplug the miniUSB cable between the Ronin-S (or my laptop) and the 5D Mark III
but in both cases, I’m so sad!
Best whishes for 2019!
tom

When shooting full resolution silent pictures with the *compressed* DNG function from crop_rec_4k pictures which are "black" or very dark get corrupted and can't be opened by photoshop. MacOS's preview can read them though. If the brightness is higher they open just fine.

I just downloaded and installed ML on my 5D3 yesterday. First I had the write lock on the SD card so the program could not write the backup (?) files, so I uninstalled it and installed it again. Some weird flickers appeared on the lcd screen after I started to use the camera. The screen got striped and the menu view was mixed with the image view, so you could see the view from the objective stiped with the menu view. One time there was stripes and a whole screen sized text `Cinestyle´. I have Tecnicolor cinestyle installed on the camera, isn´t it compatible with ML? At the moment of the flickers I had FPS override on.

When the Expo. Override option is enabled, frequent audio dropouts occur when recording video. They seem in no way related to any Canon or ML audio settings, and disabling Expo. Override resolves the issue.
The short attached clip demonstrates the problem; the dropouts are particularly noticeable in room noise or any continuous tone.
Currently on magiclantern-Nightly.2018May01.600D102, but I believe the issue dates back to at least December 2017.

This problem happen only 2 times. During recording when I press stop button, it did not stop. Press few times, still did not stop. Switch off, nothing happen. So I pull out the battery.
Most problem is recording stop and tell u to submit report.
Question, is the FPS setting max. 30FPS for 500D/T1i? I can't change to higher FPS, is it limited by the camera hardware.
Thanks for all the hard works for update patches.

I've noticed that when using mlv_lite.mo (Raw video v1.1 (MLV Lite)) with FPS override FastTV mode, when recording RAW in 1x crop mode on 5D mark II, it will contain intermittent backward frames.
Watch this https://youtu.be/m1_FBnhzXCs
There are 2 backward frames in this sample sequence, they are marked and should be easy to notice.
Here is the source MLV : https://goo.gl/txLJoN
The sequence will contain more backward frames with slower shutter speed, for example FPS override of 15fps and shutter speed of 1/17s will produce about 20+ backward frames scattered randomly in a 2000 frames sequence.
However, the same settings works correctly with mlv_rec.mo (Raw video v2.0(MLV))
Hopefully this could be fixed. When using silent mode (simple, DNG) and the intervalometer I get a certain amount of black frames. For example, in 300 frames I got 14 fully black frames.
The reason for the appearance of black frames could not be established.
Black images are formed in an arbitrary order.
I was also able to find a workaround.
1. Run intervalometer in simple.
2. Waiting for 1 frame.
3. Change simple to full-res and turn into LiveView mode.
4. Waiting for 1 frame. In this case, we get a completely white frame and RAW ERROR.
5. Change full-res to simple.
6. The rest of the session goes by without black frames.

Installed the latest nightly build on top of Canon firmware 1.1.6 on my 6D and setup the camera to test some raw video. Everything seemed to be working well. Then disabled raw video settings and rebooted camera to shoot regular video. Then a ghostly image of what the camera was facing would appear shortly after turning on camera in live mode and be "burned" or overlaid onto the screen. Shortly after this the camera becomes unresponsive and even after turning the camera off, the image on screen would remain. Only removing the battery allowed for shutdown and restart. 3 restarts and it still happens.

Hi, just upgraded to Canon 1.1.6 with magiclantern-Nightly.2016Oct09.6D116.zip and went for timelapse shooting using Silent Images. I have the following notes gathered together as requests for future development.
1) Full Sized DNGs have no EXIF data, specifically No date-time, aperture, ISO, WB value, Shutter Speed, wrong Dimensions, Date Taken (I believe all of these can be gathered from the current camera state settings in LiveView). Without White Balance and ISO data I cannot apply correct Sharpening.
2) When a DUALISO picture is taken with Silent Picture Full Sized in DNG there are 5 lines at the bottom of the frame that are not blended correctly when I convert the (renamed Dual ISO CR2 to half resolution DNG). I can provide the converter I use or please suggest another one if you feel it's a converter issue. Other Dual ISO images shot with normal procedure and converted in the same way have no issues.
3) I could not use Av or Tv for Timelapse nor Auto ISO with Silent Pictures causing the Light and AutoWB to be inconsistent as the time goes by and I am shooting Blue Hour. A workaround on-the-spot is to set the WB manually and note down on a piece of paper all settings so I know which settings were used (not practical).
4) When using Silent images the LV pre-shooting picture is about 3 stops darker than the exposure shot in Silent Pictures causing the image to be brighter. Shot time is between 15 seconds and 1 second and the LV image is always different in exposure than the image shot. You need trial and error to estimate correctly the exposure.
5) Colors are faded out (can be corrected in Post Processing) and shots are not shown correctly in camera.
6) When using Silent images there's no way to start the exposure without creating camera shake. If a programmable delay was implemented (e.g. 3 seconds) problem would be solved.
7) Silent Images faster that 1 second (I know it had been discussed before, just mentioning it)
8) (Not timelapse related) When a long exposure is taken in Bulb mode in the dark there's not way to see time passing on top LCD or in camera display.
Thank you

It's my 1st bug report so I'm not sure of the etiquette but the best descriptions are probably on the forum.

when I use the cameras LCD all are fine. when I connect the external monitor the image get cropped !!!! from the right side of the frame and all modes of screen layout keep the ml information in the frame, either I use in advanced settings : Bottom, under 3:2 - Bottom, under 16:9 - 4:3 display, auto - 16:9 HDMI,t/b - 16:10 HDMI,t/b.
Older version of Ml didn't have this problem.
I include photos from the monitor,
to avoid wrong frame viewing I must turn to CANON layout .
Is there a possibility to fix this bug?

Software Problem
Basically you turn on the camera in mode M and then the MENU button and nothing happens you have to switch in to one of the modes below M on the functions dile and then back to M and you can access the MENU.
Once in the MENU when you scroll the main dial the green will cut out and you will have to do the same process again to get it to work.
You can start the camera in Auto mode and its all works fine then when you go back to M the problem starts again with the screen cutting out when you use the Main Dial.
i have put Magic Lantern Firmware 1.2.3 i know i know not a good plan but hay such is life. This was done 8 mouths ago and had had no problems.

Summary: Soft Focus Limit is reached when steps are in front, but not when steps are behind.
To Reproduce:
**Working example using Num Pics Behind:**
1. Set Focus to nearest value
2. Set **Num Pics Behind** to 28
3. Set **Num Pics In front** to 0
4 Set **Focus steps / picture** to 1
5. Run focus stack
Results: Focus stack completes without issue
**Failing example using Num Pics In front:**
1. Set Focus to infinity
2. Set **Num Pics In front** to 28
3. Set **Num Pics Behind** to 0
4 Set **Focus steps / picture** to 1
5. Run focus stack
Results: Focus stack triggers 'Soft Focus Reached' when refocussing for final step
Note: Although 28 seems to be the max number of steps (setting to 29 hits the soft focus limit even with the working example above), decreasing the number of steps still results in the soft focus limit being reached in the second example. This would suggest that the issue lies in the distance it refocusses at the start of the focus stack: it would appear to be too short, so that the full number of steps (however many they are) don't all fit.https://foss.heptapod.net/magic-lantern/magic-lantern/-/issues/2411Audio RemoteShot delay2020-06-26T12:18:50ZBitbucket ImporterAudio RemoteShot delay*Created originally on Bitbucket by [kamran_aslam (Kamran Aslam)](https://bitbucket.org/%7Ba046de48-d32a-42cd-a53d-a3794c134444%7D/)*

Hi. My name is Bank.
I've been using ML for a while. Thank you guys for such a great work!
today I found a bug with AETTR. I went for taking macro pictures with my camera mount in a tripod. when I shot at fully open fstop everything seem right. The camera provide a great picture because AETTR. unless DOF of this pic is a little blur more than I want. So I increased f stop number. The thing is AETTR doesn't change shutter speed to compensate increasing of f-stop. it using shutter speed that used when fully fstop open. (I'm using press set btn to activate) no matter how many times I tried to restart camera or pressed set button. So I shot it as It is. the pic went a little underexposed. Then I have to lower shutter speed myself by I looking in histogram and got it as I want.
650D 1.0.4 ef 18-135 stm
Nightly.2015Oct01.650D104
My AETTR Settings are
- Trigger mode : Press set
- Slowest Shutter : 10"
- exposure target :-1ev
- Highlight ignore : 0.1%
- Allow chipping : OFF
- Midtone : 6ev
- Shadow : 2 ev
- Link to canon shutter : OFF
- Link to dual ISO : OFF
camera setting
M mode
iso 100
f widest at 3.5 and increase it to 8 then found this.
So, Can I assume it as a bug? or AETTR only work with fully open aperture?
Thanks in advance

Only happens sometimes, but I'll take a photo, and then the whole camera just hangs. If I press the shutter button again, it says 'card busy,' and if I shut the camera off, it gives me the wait screen and says it's writing 1 photo to card, and does this indefinitely, until I pull the battery.
I can still access the ML menus and canon system menus while it's hanging here, but I can't use the built in photo viewer.
I've attached the error log file that was created the last time this happened.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but I was working off a 64gb Lexar UHS II card.
Thanks guys!

Since I upgraded to Firmware 1.1.6, I notice that the GPS Power Save feature of ML behaves slightly differently. With 1.1.3, Power Save kept the GPS active as long as the 6D was switched on, and deactivated it when switched off. Now with 1.1.6, Power Save will deactivate the GPS whenever the 6D goes to sleep mode, even if it is switched on. As a result, each time the 6D is reawakened by half-pressing the shutter, the GPS has to look for the position again, resulting in loss of information due to the time it takes to make a fix.
i would like a return to the previous behavior: with internal GPS activated in Canon menu, GPS stays on when the camera is switched on, and GPS gets disconnected when the camera is switched off;https://foss.heptapod.net/magic-lantern/magic-lantern/-/issues/23225D/MII - Intervalometer "double shoots" in between sets2020-06-26T12:14:19ZBitbucket Importer5D/MII - Intervalometer "double shoots" in between sets*Created originally on Bitbucket by [mikephotos (Mike M)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B72e0b09c-8a86-45e7-9cd0-ac2b22d776df%7D/)*

Sorry for the confusing title, not sure how to describe it better. Basically, for example, let's say I set an HDR sequence of 2 shots to be taken every 12 seconds. And let's just for this example say each exposure is about 1 second give or take.
What should happen based on my settings (and 99% of the time it works perfect) is this.
Second 1: (HDR Shot A) Shutter Open/Close - Exposure Writes to card
Second 2: (HDR Shot B) Shutter Open/Close - Exposure Writes to card
Second 3:
Second 4:
Second 5:
Second 6:
Second 7:
Second 8:
Second 9:
Second 10:
Second 11:
Second 12:
Second 13: (HDR Shot A) Shutter Open/Close - Exposure Writes to card
Second 14: (HDR Shot B) Shutter Open/Close - Exposure Writes to card
The "bug" that's occurring is this:
Second 1: (HDR Shot A) Shutter Open/Close - Exposure Writes to card
Second 2: (HDR Shot B) Shutter Open/Close - Exposure Writes to card
Second 3:
Second 4:(???) Shutter Open/Close - Exposure Doesn't Write to card
Second 5:(???) Shutter Open/Close - Exposure Doesn't Write to card
Second 6:
Second 7:
Second 8:
Second 9:
Second 10:
Second 11:
Second 12:
Second 13: (HDR Shot A) Shutter Open/Close - Exposure Writes to card
Second 14: (HDR Shot B) Shutter Open/Close - Exposure Writes to card
-----------------
So the strange part is, every 12 seconds, a new HDR sequence should begin and like I said 99% of the time that is exactly what happens.
P.S. Many different settings, 10 second interval, 15 second interval, 3 shot HDR, 2 shot HDR, doesn't matter the error happens.
What's actually happening once in a while, and I'll be sitting there and notice it and *GULP* and be worried it's messing up my time lapse is almost immediately after the first sequence is taken, another 3 shots are taken. But what's weird is that later on upon review, the "DOUBLE TAKE" error/bug shots that shouldn't have been taken in the first place are in fact not on the card and are not exposed? So, yes this is a bug, no it's not messing up my time lapses (that I'm aware of), but, it is causing the mirror/shutter to take 2,3, however many actuations when it shouldn't be. I have video of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3llIwcqUFY it happens twice in 3 minutes, it was really really acting up the other day.
Let me ask, could it be that I did not format the card (in camera) before use? I notice that no matter what settings both exposure settings and intervalometer settings, this error occurs. I'm on a Canon 5d/Mark 2.
Apologies if this has already been addressed in other bug reports.

Hello,
here is an issue I got with nightly build of the 2013-12-28 02:55:09
problem: as you can see in the picture attached, the internal "exposure bar" of the canon menu seems to overlay with the ML menu in the bottom.
It happens only when I switch the camera on the video mode bar keeps blinking.
It is just a minor bug, but it would be great if you could fix that.
Thanks.

When using Intervallometer, and bulb timer, on my 50D the camera takes photos until its manually stopped.
However, when the above is stopped, all Canon menues gets unstable. "Info view" is total black, and "Image review" is sometimes opening. Red light is continuous.
If power switch is set to "Off", the camera reports that "1 Image Recording", and never shuts off.

Hello
Since a few days (without any problems before with ML) when i go into canon menu, ML config or picture playback, after ~3seconds the menu or picture close to back to the standard 'shoot menu'
After uninstalling ML it works again.
I tried reinstalling after cleaning but same problem.
EDIT: 'Shutter Half-press' is off and same issue
The menu stay only if i was in Liveview before
Even with a 'stock' firmware, settings and CFn reset and SD card low lever format
Before no problem
Works with stock and no change CFn

Since some ML-versions my screen is corrupted at the bottom (status bar). I don't see the great and coloured ML-Infos about focal, focus, time and apperture, I only see the default white canon record-data.
In the 11-11 version I can bring up the "right" design by using "erase canon menu" in the debug ML-menu. Once a time I can see the right status bar. after going into ML-menu, the corrupted status-bar appears.
I attach a screenshot of both status bars.

Hi Tramm. The Moire issue with fabrics and the like have rendered the MarkII useless on a number of shots for me. Luckily, the shows I shot were being played back on the web and not HD so they weren't all bad. Have experimented with dropping the mirror as a method of saving battery while shooting with ML (since the LCD turns off). It works a few times at first, but will eventually lock the camera up (the lcd goes dead, and none of the buttons work). Reboot doesn't help - get "err" code on the camera's top lcd. Before ML, I would just plug in a mini plug into the AV jack to override the lcd and save batteries without having to power the camera down. That obviously won't work with ML since the AV jack is now a headphone jack. Once camera locks up removing the battery/interrupting the power supply (if using the AC adapter) resets everything and shooting is then resumed.https://foss.heptapod.net/magic-lantern/magic-lantern/-/issues/144Cropmarks shrink/duplicate on external monitor2020-06-26T11:14:55ZBitbucket ImporterCropmarks shrink/duplicate on external monitor*Created originally on Bitbucket by Anonymous*

Are there any developments with regard to writing firmware that would enable full 1920 X 1080 output via the HDMI output of the 5D, 7D and 550D.
I have contacted Canon here in NZ but I won't hold out for this comunication to be passed on or for Canon to urgently enable this function.
I recently came across a site by a guy by the name of Jay Friesen who has recored live HDMI output form a 550D: http://blog.jayfriesen.com/2010/03/canon-t2i550d-hdmi-output-footages/?dsq=41604944#disqus_thread
I am keen to soon purchase a 550D so I was interested to see if there are any developers working on such capabilities for these cameras?

Canon messed up when introducing auto-ISO. When shooting in A mode, Auto-ISO will set the shutter speed to one stop slower than the focal length of your lens, with no way of setting minimum or maximum shutter speeds. This ommision completely kills the Auto-ISO feature for action still photographers. If you could hack the firmware in order to manually set a minimum shutter speed when using auto-ISO, this would make Auto-ISO usable again.https://foss.heptapod.net/magic-lantern/magic-lantern/-/issues/165Battery error after installing Magic Lantern2020-06-26T11:15:22ZBitbucket ImporterBattery error after installing Magic Lantern*Created originally on Bitbucket by Anonymous*

Today I tried to install the magiclantern-0.1.8 on the 2.0.4 firmware.
To this day, I used version 2.0.4 with the original batteries that were not great.
After trying to install the camera magiclantern-0.1.8 introduced an error message related to communication with the batteries and then the camera shuts down.
Since the update attempt, any attempt to activate the camera failed (even with Canon's original batteries).
I turn on the camera and LiveView appears Err with battery flashing.
Does anyone have an idea to resolve the problem?

I have Hawk Woods external V-Lok batteries going into the 5D mkII via a Hawk Woods dummy battery.
When turning the camera on the camera screen says that the camera cannot communicate with battery and asks whether to use it anyway. I (obviously) select 'Yes' and then initialise Magic Lantern.
The normal ML display appears BUT the camera will not enter into the record mode when the 'SET' button is pressed. ML instead crashes.
Any suggestions?
