- Lens: Canon L-Series 24-70 ƒ4
- Canon Firmware: 1.2.3
- Lens Focal length: 24
Summary: Soft Focus Limit is reached when steps are in front, but not when steps are behind.
To Reproduce:
Working example using Num Pics Behind:
- Set Focus to nearest value
- Set Num Pics Behind to 28
- Set Num Pics In front to 0 4 Set Focus steps / picture to 1
- Run focus stack
Results: Focus stack completes without issue
Failing example using Num Pics In front:
- Set Focus to infinity
- Set Num Pics In front to 28
- Set Num Pics Behind to 0 4 Set Focus steps / picture to 1
- Run focus stack
Results: Focus stack triggers 'Soft Focus Reached' when refocussing for final step
Note: Although 28 seems to be the max number of steps (setting to 29 hits the soft focus limit even with the working example above), decreasing the number of steps still results in the soft focus limit being reached in the second example. This would suggest that the issue lies in the distance it refocusses at the start of the focus stack: it would appear to be too short, so that the full number of steps (however many they are) don't all fit.
