Would it be possible to optionally strip those commits from history when converting Mercurial to Git?
Default option would be to include them, as currently.
When enabled, the close commits would be excluded and in case the given commit for some strange reason has touched any files, it would break the conversion.
The reason for considering this is to remove things that are not done in the Git world but a common practice in Mercurial.
Also I came across an issue with bookmarking the last commit from each branch, which resulted all closed branches to have only a single commit in them, which was the close commit.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/hg-git/-/issues/183wish: gpg signing of git commits2022-12-23T15:31:03ZBitbucket Importerwish: gpg signing of git commits*Created originally on Bitbucket by [ArneBab (Arne Babenhauserheide)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B1a667e04-1d4e-47f1-8c0b-1da580bbdb5b%7D/)*

When cloning a git repository that has submodules, hg-git translates the `.gitmodules` file into a `.hgsub` file.
That's very nice, but forces the developer to use git on those subrepositories.
If instead of saving the submodules in `.hgsub` as `subfolder = [git]example.com/repo.git`, they were saved as `subfolder = [hg]git+ssh://example.com/repo.git`, then `hg-git` would handle those submodules and the developer could be able to use mercurial everywhere.
I guess `.hgsubstate` would need some extra work too, but I'd love this feature.
