GNU emacs cannot be cloned anymore a workaround of sorts:
Hi As I wrote in the mailing list running hg clone git://git.savannah.gnu.org/emacs.git will need up 4 hours, consume more that 7 GB of RAM and will be killed at some time (Hardware THinkpad X1, 4th generation, 8 GB RAM) A workaround is the following
- Deactivate all other extensions
- git clone git://git.savannah.gnu.org/emacs.git
- cd emacs (the cloned with git)
- git checkout version-january-2019-or-earlier -b smaller
- cd ..
- git git clone --branch smaller emacs/ emacs-small
- hg clone emacs-small emacs-hg
- waiting waiting only 6.5 GB used finished!
- cd emacs-hg (now pull the rest either from ../emacs or directly from git://git.savannah.gnu.org/emacs.git
quite a ordeal
hope this helps somebody
