Errors from github reported as "The remote server unexpectedly closed the connection"
Created originally on Bitbucket by jaraco (Jason R. Coombs)
hg-git seemed broken when I would try to check out the same repo with hg-git:
{{{
hg clone -vvv git+ssh://git@github.com:jaraco/supervisor.git destination directory: supervisor ["git-upload-pack 'jaraco/supervisor.git'"] abort: git remote error: The remote server unexpectedly closed the connection. }}}
After spending an hour disabling plugins and troubleshooting Mercurial, I tried the git command. It seems github is doing an SSH key audit. If I try to clone something using the git command, I get this message:
{{{ Cloning into supervisor... ERROR: Hi jaraco, it's GitHub. We're doing an SSH key audit. Please visit https://github.com/settings/ssh/audit/... to approve this key so we know it's safe. Fingerprint: 12:a7:be:... fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectdly. }}}
When I searched for the error message, I didn't find much useful information. It would be nice if hg-git could relay the output as git does.
At least, this bug should serve for others who get this error message to try using the git client to ascertain the cause.
