Slow Windows Explorer even if the overlay is disabled

Created originally on Bitbucket by afriza (Afriza N. Arief)

Hi All,

I am having a slow Windows Explorer on Hg repository tree even if the icon overlay is disabled globally. All opened Windows Explorer (including File Open Dialog) often freeze and the freeze can reach about 1 minutes or more depending the size of the repo. renaming the .hg to other name removes the problem.

OS: Windows XP Pro SP3 I have TortoiseSVN 1.6.0 installed (overlay enabled) and some SVN checkouts. The Hg repo does not reside inside SVN checkout nor does the SVN repo reside inside Hg repo. If both svn & hg repos exist in the same tree, it also slow down Windows Explorer a lot.
