Screens are never big enough, and for single-row tabular data there's always more information than can fit into a column, so field values in columns get truncated. This affects especially Description column quite badly. It would be really helpful to have access to the full information of the field by way of tooltips, as seen in windows explorer.
STR
1. On an average laptop screen, with repository registry open at the left, look at your repository
2. Have a patch which is a bit longer, has tags, and a normal-length description, appearing in your repository
3. Try to read description in repository's description column
Actual result
* description truncated after first two words, because tags and patch name are eating up all the space in description column, like this:
[default][bug123456789_patch-short-name.patch][qbase][qtip][tip][Description: Bug 123456... // truncated here by author column
* There's no easy way to just hover the description to read it, as in Windows Explorer
Expected result
* Please add tooltips disclosing full information for all truncated tabular fields in repository table, esp. Description
* Get inspired by Windows Explorer how the tooltip combines information from multiple fields in a nice and concise mannerhttps://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4916Repository > Remove from Registry does not ask for confirmation, and needs a ...2020-06-21T11:09:06ZBitbucket ImporterRepository > Remove from Registry does not ask for confirmation, and needs a menu separator (ux-error-prevention)*Created originally on Bitbucket by [thomasdd (Thomas D.)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B8da0c5d2-9d85-454e-8331-a0535f3a8cc6%7D/)*

Please add a simple confirmation alert to the "Remove from Registry" command, and a menu separator before the menuitem to make accidental clicks less likely.
I was just trying to "Rename" my repository then suddenly the entire repo node went away silently. Fortunately it doesn't destroy the data, but still, the UX of this is quite nasty, and too much effort to restore what I never wanted to remove in the first place.
This would also be a nice and simple immediate fix to prevent the worst of similar issue #4016, where reporter says "...it is removed. Without even asking for confirmation. That's absolutely ridiculous. " Indeed.
STR
1. Right-click on repo
2. Try to click "Rename", but miss by a millimeter downwards
Actual result
* triggered "Remove from Registry" instead
* Repo is silently removed against user's intention (as in issue #4016)
* user hassles to restore the repo
Expected result
* UX-error-prevention
* add a separator before "Remove from Registry command" so that it becomes harder to click accidentaly:
...
```
#!text
Rename
------------------------ <--- new separator
Remove from Registry
------------------------
```
* add a confirmation alert before removing the repo, ideally mentioning the name of the repo which is about to be removed:
```
This is with a hggit repo, I've not tested it with an HG-only repo, but seems likely it would be an issue there as well.
Repo steps
1. In tortoise hg
2. Have local changesets, press the outgoing button, history section changes to yellow background
3. Select a changeset that you want removed, right click and go Modify History > Strip
4. That should succeed in stripping the changesets
5. Outgoing list tries to refresh, but an error pops up with "unknown revision", and stays as a empty yellow background list until you hit cancel
In my case this functioning without error would be great because i'm using tortoise to interact with a git repo that has a large turn-over of remote branches.
Pressing the outgoing button lists all the remote branches which I've pulled but are no longer existing remotely. So I was trying to use that as a method to prune those branches.
But anytime I'd strip from the outgoing changeset history list, I'd then get an error "unknown revision '73627'" because that is the revision I just stripped from the HG history.
TL;DR - implement right-click "copy" in the same directory in Windows Explorer.
---
If I right-click and drag a file in Windows Explorer, I'm given the options to "Hg Move versioned item(s) here" and "Hg Copy versioned item(s) here".
These only work if dragging the file(s) into a **different** folder/directory... and that makes complete sense for the "Move" option.
However, I regularly need to copy files in the **same** folder/directory, and it is frustrating that it doesn't allow it. The workaround is to "copy" to a different folder, rename the file and then "move" back to the original one.
(And now I think about it, I guess the main issue with copying to the same directory is the appropriate renaming of the new files.)https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4897Does not work resolve with kdiff3, when merge with local2020-06-21T11:08:46ZBitbucket ImporterDoes not work resolve with kdiff3, when merge with local*Created originally on Bitbucket by [andrew312 (Andrew)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B240efde6-76cc-4bf5-9735-046308312ce1%7D/)*
If I do a "Diff to Local" from Branch B, the directory diff tools shows up. The diff shows as expected and FileB is only in Branch B and FileC is only in default. I copy FileB to default. In the background temp directory FileB shows up. I close the diff tool then refresh my working directory but FileB never gets moved back to the real working directory from the temp directory.
Also, I have a similar problem with copying files that are on both sides with the same size but internally different. Both temps are created with the same date time stamp. Beyond Compare allows an easy copy file from one directory to the other. I do the copy. Close the directory diff. I think in certain cases the unified diff output [±] button is disabled when it should be enabled.
This happens when viewing a merge changeset in the commit view.
Scenario 1:
* File was changed with respect to parent 1, but no changes compared to parent 2
* Click on button [1]
* Result 1A: all three diff view option buttons are enabled
* Click on button [2]
* Result 1B: [±] button is disabled. Others are enabled.
Scenario 2:
* File was changed with respect to parent 2, but no changes compared to parent 1
* Click on button [1]
* Result 2A: [±] button is disabled. Others are enabled.
* Click on button [2]
* Result 2B: [±] button is disabled. Others are enabled.
2B doesn't seem right. In that case [±] should be enabled.
Somewhat separate issue - I don't see why [±] needs to ever be disabled. If there are no differences in the comparison, it would be clearer to leave the diff view blank or show a "files are identical" message. Then this button logic would work like the other two diff options and could be simplified.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4891External diff tool doesn't run on the correct parent file (merge diff)2020-06-21T11:08:37ZBitbucket ImporterExternal diff tool doesn't run on the correct parent file (merge diff)*Created originally on Bitbucket by [DaveInCaz (David Hollman)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B2dd8bec0-e2b4-43d0-b274-6ee79db66b75%7D/)*
If it were possible to automatically select/unselect blocks in the diff view by criteria - or even to hide/unhide/ignore them - that would be a huge time saver.
Examples would be to ignore / filter out whitespace-only changes, or capitalization-only changes.
In my case we work with a lot of VB6 code where the IDE inexplicably will change case of certain keywords. This pollutes the diff with incredible amounts of noise.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4875work revision menu need bookmark control2020-06-21T11:08:17ZBitbucket Importerwork revision menu need bookmark control*Created originally on Bitbucket by [Alex Rayne (Александр Литягин)](https://bitbucket.org/%7Ba08cf82d-1da1-46f4-8019-7f030383d366%7D/)*
I was previewing incoming changes for a repo clone in Workbench and wanted to see what they were but, even though the horizontal scrollbar in the file's contents preview (lower right) was working, it didn't move far enough to the right, or was the wrong size, to allow me to see the end of the very long lines of code I needed to see. Making this scroll bug appear seems to have to do with first highlighting the *Working Directory* (topmost) row in the upper right view then clicking the preview icon. If one of the revs below that row is clicked first then the bug doesn't appear. Also, when the bug is present, simply resizing the main window or just the panel view height makes it go away. A screen shot should help to at least show what it looks like when present.
Currently TortoiseHG does not remember the last-used file status filter like it does for the revision set filter. It always defaults to showing ? Unknown file types when frequently this is not needed or required.
There should be a way to either allow THG to remember the last-used filter, configure a project or global filter, or at the very least, honor the hg "[default] status=-q -m" option in the user's config file.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4862WindowsError: [Error 5] Access is denied in ManifestModel2020-06-21T11:08:01ZBitbucket ImporterWindowsError: [Error 5] Access is denied in ManifestModel*Created originally on Bitbucket by [PatSpiegel](https://bitbucket.org/%7B0371471c-5484-4209-8019-e416bb1c6ce4%7D/)*
thg presented an unknown revision error when I clicked Detect outgoing. Closing TortoiseHg and restarting it made the error go away.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4846"Zoom out" in the branch/merge history2020-06-21T11:07:42ZBitbucket Importer"Zoom out" in the branch/merge history*Created originally on Bitbucket by [DaveInCaz (David Hollman)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B2dd8bec0-e2b4-43d0-b274-6ee79db66b75%7D/)*
I find it quite hard to follow the overall flow of branches and merges in the visual chart in THG. (Same in command line HG with the -G option). The length of the graph gets in the way.
An improvement would to have an option to to show only the history of branches & merges in the graph - a sort of "zooming out" of the entire history.
In other words, omit all the intervening commits and show only branch & merge points. This would spatially compress the history quite a bit and might make the overall flow of work more apparent.
