Context menu change encoding helps. But i doesn know about it until last day.
Imho, if indicator of current encoding showed explicitly with some ability to chane encoding -by context menu or combobox. It would be much more handy and transparent for newbies.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4603thg console - gets stuck after running 'cmd'2023-06-19T21:02:21ZBitbucket Importerthg console - gets stuck after running 'cmd'*Created originally on Bitbucket by [DaveInCaz (David Hollman)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B2dd8bec0-e2b4-43d0-b274-6ee79db66b75%7D/)*

But I am then unable to type anything. It becomes totally nonfunctional and I have to restart thg Workbench to get it back to normal.
This was observed on Windows 7.

In File > Settings > Sync there is a "Default Push" entry which allows you to select "all", "branch", or "revision".
There should be a similar option for "Default Pull". Hg seems to support this. Instead, thg has buried a similar function under the Synchronize view > Options button which IMO makes it much harder to find and also is not nearly as easy to use.

The "commit" and "revision details" views appear to be mutually exclusive. They also share quite a lot of overlap for what is displayed on the bottom panel ("task tab").
I think they should simply be combined.
The new behavior would be: when you click on a past revision or when you click on the working directory line item, the single view would just update accordingly.
This is nearly what happens now anyway - the view automatically changes when you click between working dir and a revision.
Combining them would have several advantages:
1. Simplify the UI.
2. As it is now, even though the task tab has essentially the same elements in both views, the separator bars & sizes of other things have to be maintained independently, which is annoying and confusing.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4597Feature Request: Ability to select/deselect all matching chunks in shelve sea...2020-06-21T11:02:32ZBitbucket ImporterFeature Request: Ability to select/deselect all matching chunks in shelve search bar*Created originally on Bitbucket by Anonymous*

When we are editing large files (for example updating EDMX files from a database), we often have a large number of chunks that we do not want to commit.
Currently the workflow we have to do this is:
* Shelve all edmx file changes
* Use the search bar on the shelve dialog to highlight relevant chunks
* Scroll through the list (or press Next) and tick each chunk individually, we can unshelve those changes and have a clean commit for that feature
It would be really helpful if there were buttons in the search bar to select all / deselect all matching chunks. This would save us a lot of time and reduce the chance of human error.
As a side note: I was originally going to submit a request to have any search bar at all but then discovered the very subtle button that opens this up. Possibly the button to open the search bar should also say "Search" next to the icon? There is a lot of unused space available.

The workbench remained open on subst drive (P:) reassignment. Days later, I requested a compare with local on a previous version, and TortoiseHg issued a "report this bug" request causing a 20-minute detour. At that point the error wasn't obvious. I later recalled that the workspace was on a subst drive that has been reassigned. A simple message saying "file x is not readable" is preferable.

I am using TortoiseHg version 3.8.3.
When versioning an excel .xls oder .xlsx file, it is not possible to view a diff by using Visual Diffs and then choosing tool docdiff. The way Visual Diff creates temporary files, it will always be the case that the filenames are identical. There seems to be [some magic here](https://bitbucket.org/georgem/tortoisehg-stable/src/db83e051c6ea90aab093f6dc38d1c82928735016/contrib/docdiff.py?at=default&fileviewer=file-view-default#docdiff.py-74) that creates a renamed copy of one of the input files in case the file name is the same (in my case 'output.xlsx') and the filename contains "xls".
So one of the files is successfully copied to "output.xlsx~x1" and then used as one of the files to be diffed. But it seems this rename is not sufficient in order to be able to compare the files:
![xlsdifftest.png](https://bitbucket.org/repo/48R4X/images/3286935652-xlsdifftest.png)
I tried **renaming the file to "output.~1.xlsx" instead** and then, using the folling command line, excel pops up and shows the differences.
```
#!batch
C:\Users\ber.SMA\AppData\Local\Temp\thg.7et_ma>docdiff "xlsdifftest.3.1\output.~1.xlsx" xlsdifftest.3.2\output.xlsx
```

When performing a merge with option "automatically resolve merge conflicts where possible" activated
and there are conflicts that have to be resolved manually and then action "take other" is taken,
the generated .orig files are not copies of the original file, but contain conflict markers like "<<<<<<< local" and ">>>>>>> other" as well as code from the other branch.
Others also stumbled over this behaviour, see https://sourceforge.net/p/tortoisehg/mailman/message/32845534/
Some may call this behaviour a feature, but from my point of view it is a bug, because a file named .orig should be the original file and not some merge attempt.
It would be better to generate an addtional file, for example named .merge, containing the merge attempt.

If you have multiple tabs open and you "check for incoming changes" or "detect outgoing changes" the tab updates to show the green sync icon while communication takes place with the remote server. And when you click Push All/Pull All button you get the same sync icon... that's all fine.
However, if you go to a different tab after you "check" or "detect" the green icon disappears and it's not obvious that the tab is awaiting your decision.
Can I suggest that either the sync button remains, or even better a new icon to denote that an interaction is being requested?
I realise that 99% of people will wait for the result of the check/detect and click the appropriate button straight away - but there are times when I'm working with 4 different repos at the same time and swap between them.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4523Allow selecting rename files manually2020-06-21T11:00:56ZBitbucket ImporterAllow selecting rename files manually*Created originally on Bitbucket by [psuter (Peter Suter)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B48b289e8-68dd-4aa4-8d3a-6458c5363d69%7D/)*

Sometimes the guessing/automatic detecting of the rename dialog doesn't work well, and manual intervention is required.
So far the only option seems to be running `hg rename -A SOURCE DEST` on the command line.
For command line phobic users it would be nice if there was another option that does not require using the command line. For example the *Detect Renames* dialog could have a button *Browse* that opens allows selecting a SOURCE file from a parent revision tree view, and a DEST file from a working directory tree view.
Or if started directly from the Workbench on a file context menu, only the SOURCE selection would be required.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4522Show default repository URL in settings GUI2020-06-21T11:00:55ZBitbucket ImporterShow default repository URL in settings GUI*Created originally on Bitbucket by [roonski (Aaron Lawrence)](https://bitbucket.org/%7Bc7410afa-c0ea-443e-9bb3-39c02dbad434%7D/)*
