I suggest that remembering passwords securely (probably in keyring) be the default config. It's kind of expected that there be a way to remember passwords, at least in an internal company setup.
Maybe it's not mandatory, there could be a checkbox to remember password in the prompt.
Alternatively, make the GUI give proper support to this common use case. At the moment it's quite difficult to figure out the correct combination of settings to get it working. Evidence: out of our 12 developers only 3 have figured out how to save password.

The python package lz4 is required for the remotefilelog extension. Currently, on Windows, we need to add sys.path.append('path to installed python's site-packages') in the remotefilelog extension so that the lz4 package can be imported properly when the extension is invoked through TortoiseHg.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4496website: Ubuntu PPA deleted2020-07-09T06:50:22ZBitbucket Importerwebsite: Ubuntu PPA deleted*Created originally on Bitbucket by [Eli Collins](https://bitbucket.org/%7Bfd7a522b-f695-4b41-b6f4-75771094d07f%7D/)*

Not sure when this happened, but the Ubuntu PPA (https://launchpad.net/~tortoisehg-ppa) seems to be inactive, and the author has removed all files from it.
Is there an alternative? In either case, the TortoiseHg website should probably be updated to no longer link people there.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4490(Win10) Access Denied Error when deleting repository watched in Workbench2020-06-21T11:00:18ZBitbucket Importer(Win10) Access Denied Error when deleting repository watched in Workbench*Created originally on Bitbucket by Anonymous*

Commit https://bitbucket.org/tortoisehg/thg/commits/e8655ee7414d introduced new way for generating config file. But on Nix package manager we've found a failing case
Running setup.py like this
```
#!bash
python setup.py build install --install-data=<SOMEPATH>
```
and running setup.py like this
```
#!bash
python setup.py build
python setup.py install --install-data=<SOMEPATH>
```
are the ways to generate different config files. First one respects the --install-data option, the second - doesn't, but this is counterintuitive
The proposal is to move build_config to install command

On applying a patch with lots of merge conflicts, after going through all the "Hunk FAILED" prompts, the final popup is entitled "Command Error" and lists all the merge failures in applying the single patch.
If you have a lot of conflicts, this window can exceed the height of the screen, meaning you can't see what's at the bottom. (Fortunately, only an "OK" button!) I guess it should be height limited and scrolling.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4472Strip from outgoing()2020-06-21T10:59:55ZBitbucket ImporterStrip from outgoing()*Created originally on Bitbucket by [NN](https://bitbucket.org/%7Bf66e4503-cb56-489c-b87b-d9fb5db1dd37%7D/)*

Scenario (see attached sample repository):
* one changeset "Empty repository"
* 3 unapplied patches: `a` ("AAA"), `b` ("BBB"), `c` ("CCC")
Reproduction Steps:
* Changeset 0 is selected
* Select `Working Directory`
* Apply patch `a`
* Changeset 1 with patch `a` is selected, commit message shows: "AAA" (correct)
* Select `Working Directory`
* Apply patch `b`
* Changeset 2 with patch `b` is selected, commit message shows: "AAA" (BUG, should be "BBB")
* Select `Working Directory`
* Apply patch `c`
* Changeset 3 with patch `c` is selected, commit message shows: "AAA" (BUG, should be "CCC")
The shown wrong commit message gets saved when clicking QRefresh. This can cause you to lose the original patch commit message.
The buggy behavior does **not** occur in the following circumstances:
* if you do not select the `Working Directory` before applying the second/third patch
* if your setting `Workbench -> Initial revision` is set to `workingdir`
Versions affected (tested):
* 3.7.2
* 3.6.3

I would like to have an option in "branch operation" popup (or in settings) to choose to move an active bookmark to new branch or not.
We have a "production" bookmark which is a commit for deployment.
Our development branches created from default branch which have this "production" bookmark and a new commit grabs it from default to new branch. And it is unlikely to activate a bookmark while new branch is created.
Right now a solution is to create a toolbar shortcut to deactivate a bookmark with a command: "hg bookmark -i". But it is not obvious for user.
Thanks!

Use case:
Often I want to close a branch, but in large repos there can be substantial working directory updates that occur when updating to it. So update time taken to and and from branch together with external IDE observing file changes, makes the task far more painful than it should be.
Feature Request:
Allow right clicking on a revision and selecting "Close Branch".
If revision is not a head and has children with the same branch name warn the user before closing branch.

The branch list on the filter bar appears to be sorted lexicographically by ASCII code (with the current branch and default placed on top), instead of a proper alphabetical sort.
If you have branches "default", "development", "testing", "Testing" and "release", you will get this order:
```
*Show All*
default
Testing
development
release
testing
```
instead of the expected order:
```
*Show All*
default
development
release
testing
Testing
```
Also, there should be an option to disable hoisting the current and default branch to the top, to always get a consistent ordering, regardless of working copy state.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4452Keyboard accelerator for "Hg Workbench" in Explorer shell extension interfere...2020-06-21T10:59:29ZBitbucket ImporterKeyboard accelerator for "Hg Workbench" in Explorer shell extension interferes with existing accelerator*Created originally on Bitbucket by [zian_choy (Zian Choy)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B70a72042-6e7d-4c99-8ba0-c79e585bf0b1%7D/)*

In Windows 7+ in the United States version, the accelerator key for creating a new folder in Windows Explorer using the context menu is "W". As a result, the following steps will create a new folder:
1. Go to a folder using Windows Explorer
2. Press the context menu key on your keyboard
3. Press "w"
4. Press "Enter"
Unfortunately, with Tortoise Hg version 3.7.1, Tortoise Hg's entry in the context menu also uses "W" and this breaks the workflow because now, after step 3, Tortoise Hg launches rather than creating a new folder.
Please remove the keyboard accelerator or change it to a letter that is not already used by the operating system.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4443Can't push to central repository2020-06-21T10:59:16ZBitbucket ImporterCan't push to central repository*Created originally on Bitbucket by [patriciasbsantos (Patrícia Santos)](https://bitbucket.org/%7Be3601e59-9f4b-44a3-b572-9e334c3f22c3%7D/)*

I have a repository where I enabled the evolve extension. I recently amended a (non-head) changeset and rebased the child changeset.
Now when I view the history of a file that was changed in the rebased changeset, TortoiseHG File Log Viewer shows the obsolete precursor changeset instead of the rebased changeset.
`hg log filename.py` correctly shows the rebased changeset.
`thg filelog filename.py` incorrectly shows the obsolete changeset.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4436Add more information to Username/Password prompt dialogs2020-06-21T10:59:07ZBitbucket ImporterAdd more information to Username/Password prompt dialogs*Created originally on Bitbucket by [Anton Gogolev](https://bitbucket.org/%7B3098e19c-7810-46c0-b978-61e3c476139f%7D/)*

What I suggest is that the following information is added to the dialog:

paths
Assigns symbolic names and behavior to repositories.
Options are symbolic names defining the URL or directory that is the location of the repository. Example:
[paths]
my_server = https://example.com/my_repo
local_path = /home/me/repo
These symbolic names can be used from the command line. To pull from my_server: hg pull my_server. To push to local_path: hg push local_path.
Options containing colons (:) denote sub-options that can influence behavior for that specific path. Example:
[paths]
my_server = https://example.com/my_path
my_server:pushurl = ssh://example.com/my_path
The following sub-options can be defined:
pushurl
The URL to use for push operations. If not defined, the location defined by the path's main entry is used.
The following special named paths exist:
default
The URL or directory to use when no source or remote is specified.
hg clone will automatically define this path to the location the repository was cloned from.
default-push
(deprecated) The URL or directory for the default hg push location. default:pushurl should be used instead.

A number of times I have had issues with the version of python included with the windows version of thg being incompatible with the version on my system thus adding packages that are prerequisites for some extensions becomes a major exercise in frustration.
If thg installed its own version of pip which would add things to the thg installation then this would simplify things enormously.
I am not 100% sure that this is possible but it seems as if this could be a good solution for resolving this sort of issue.
I would suggest *not* placing it in the same directory as the default executables or renaming it to tpip so as to avoid possible conflicts with the users default installation.
