In `RepoWidget` `rebaseDlg` two selected revisions are used as source and destination of the rebase operation: `{'source': self.menuselection[0], 'dest': self.menuselection[1]}`.
For some reason this order is always counter-intuitive to me. To me it seems more natural to click the destination first and then right-click the source to open the context menu and execute the rebase command on the source revision.
But I guess just swapping them would confuse users that are now used to this behavior.
I'm very thankful that there is a "Swap source and destination" link/button that can easily fix the problem, if it is noticed. Unfortunately the UI makes it more difficult than necessary to notice the problem: There is a lot of information, but not necessarily all of it is useful and not all useful information is shown.
The phase (secret / draft / public) of the two changesets is missing. When source is public and destination is draft, I probably mixed them up and want to swap them. This could IMO even be done automatically as a heuristic.
To me branch and tag and date are just distracting.
The bold labels are also quite distracting.
More helpful would be "author coloring", but that is missing.
(The source changeset title is missing the word "source".)
The source and destination groupboxes are stacked vertically. It would be much more helpful to stack them horizontally, so the respective fields are next to each other.
Bonus: Show some hints (i.e. colored "source" and "destination" annotations, or an maybe even an arrow from source to destination?) in the workbench graph on the selected changesets themselves.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4949Add menu entries and keyboard shortcuts for Commit panel actions: Commit chan...2020-06-21T11:09:48ZBitbucket ImporterAdd menu entries and keyboard shortcuts for Commit panel actions: Commit changes, Amend current revision, Create a new patch, Refresh current patch*Created originally on Bitbucket by [thomasdd (Thomas D.)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B8da0c5d2-9d85-454e-8331-a0535f3a8cc6%7D/)*

When the Commit panel is shown, it's main actions are not keyboard-accessible at all. Which violates accessibility guidelines, and is also very inconvenient because those actions are very frequent, especially "Refresh current patch".
Please add the following menus to the main Repository menu (maybe after "Unbundle" command):
* Commit changes
* Amend current revision
* Create a new patch
* Refresh current patch
If you don't like 4 first-level entries, create one first-level entry "Commit >", then those 4 entries in the submenu.
Menus are just for completeness sake, but more importantly, users would benefit from having dedicated keyboard shortcuts for these pretty frequent actions:
Proposal for keyboard shortcuts:
* Commit changes (Ctrl+Shift+C)
* Amend current revision (Ctrl+Shift+M; because Ctrl+Shift+A is 'Load All Revisions')
* Create a new patch (Ctrl+Shift+P; because Ctrl+Shift+C proposed for 'Commit' and Ctrl+Shift+N is 'Clone Repository')
* Refresh current patch (Ctrl+Shift+R)https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4947Add missing commands to patch queue context menu, and make patch context menu...2020-06-21T11:09:45ZBitbucket ImporterAdd missing commands to patch queue context menu, and make patch context menus of queue widget and repository list the same*Created originally on Bitbucket by [thomasdd (Thomas D.)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B8da0c5d2-9d85-454e-8331-a0535f3a8cc6%7D/)*

For users of the patch queue widget, some patch commands are not easy to discover simply because they are not found on the patch queue context menu, which would appear to be the most logical place for patch commands... E.g. I remember searching for "Fold patches" in vain because I just assumed that all patch commands would be found in the patch queue widget. It was only through google that I found out there's another, surprisingly *different* patch context menu on patches in the repository list.
STR
1. Right-click on patch queue
2. Look for "Apply patch" (which should be relabeled to "Apply up to this patch", see #4946)
3. Try to "Apply only this patch"
4. Try to "Fold patches..."
5. Try to "Shelve..." patches or chunks thereof
Actual result
- important, everyday patch commands are NOT available from patch queue context
- command labels differ between context menu of patch queue widget and patches context menu in repository list - it's not immediately obvious that "Go to patch" is the same as "Apply patch", and "Apply patch" isn't very clear in itself...
Expected result
1. command labeling should be consistent everyhwere
* relabel "Go to patch" (from queue) and "Apply patch" (from list) to "Apply up this patch"
2. All patch commands should be available from patch queue context (proposed additions marked with *, see below)
3. The context menu of patches in the queue widget and in the repository list should be the same (see below)
4. Separators should be added to mark logical groups of commands (see below)
* first group: commands that apply to the selected and right-clicked patch
* second group: patch management commands (rename/fold/shelve/delete)
* third group: commands that apply to the patch queue, NOT the selected and right-clicked patch
* fourth group: MQ options
5. Proposed uniform patch context menu for queue widget AND repository list:
- Apply up to this patch (currently labeled "Go to this patch")
- Apply onto original parent*
- Apply only this patch*
- Set guards...
- Finish patch (Shouldn't that be "Commit patch"?)
-----------------------------------------
- Rename patch...
- Fold patches...*
- Shelve...*
- Delete patches...

The current wording of patch commands in the context menu of patches in repository list is not very clear. "Apply patch" can easily be misunderstood as "Apply only this patch" but it really means "Apply (all patches) up to this patch".
STR
1. right-click on patch in repository list
2. try to figure out the exact meaning of "Apply patch"
Actual Result:
1. "Apply patch" might be misunderstood as "Apply *only this patch*"
Expected result:
1. "Apply patches up to this patch" (or maybe "Apply all up to this patch" or even just "Apply up to this patch")

Referring to [these wiki instructions](https://bitbucket.org/tortoisehg/thg/wiki/developers/MacOSX#!install-via-macports)
The part "*Installing TortoiseHg this way usually takes a couple of hours because Qt is compiled from its sources.*" is no longer true unless there are certain circumstances (like the user picking some weird configuration or non-standard path, using a pre-released OS etc.) Qt is usually installed from binary sources, so the installation should generally be quick.
But more importantly, the build instructions should boil down to
```
#!bash
sudo port install tortoisehg
```
and then everything should work out of the box. I see no reason for the user to manually install tortoise unless there's a need for the super latest and greatest features or for actual development.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4939need coloring graph for bookmarks branches2020-06-21T11:09:35ZBitbucket Importerneed coloring graph for bookmarks branches*Created originally on Bitbucket by [Alex Rayne (Александр Литягин)](https://bitbucket.org/%7Ba08cf82d-1da1-46f4-8019-7f030383d366%7D/)*

In the lower-right panel where the changes in the file are shown, most of the time I use the "+/-" diff view (called "view change in unified diff output" - I guess it should read "changes" instead of "change").
However, occasionally, I switch to the "view change[s] in context of file" view because I need to see *where* in the file things have been changed:
![image](/uploads/fdd20d140813059b55e35f417318d3fa/image.png)
By having a glance at this view, **I expect to find highlighted all the places where the file is modified**.
However, **deletions** are not highlighted in any way.
If I assume that the places where the file has been changed are highlighted, I'll jump to the wrong conclusion that everywhere where there's nothing highlighted, the file is unchanged. While instead, where nothing is highlighted the file is either unchanged or lines have been deleted.
This makes this view way less useful and dangerously misleading.
I know that it is designed to show the file as it is now, with the changed parts highlighted. And I know that while you can highlight the added lines in green, and the modified lines in purple, you can't highlight deleted lines with any background color because deleted lines are no longer part of the file and hence they are not shown.
However, **it would be pretty easy**, and definitely necessary, **to mark the places where lines have been deleted**.
You can do that for example with a red horizontal line (meaning a geometrical line, not a line of text), both in the text view and in the scrollbar.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/5596Can't resolve conflicts with med (TypeError: can only concatenate str (not "b...2020-09-11T08:08:51ZAlexandre BiqueCan't resolve conflicts with med (TypeError: can only concatenate str (not "bytes") to str)```

* Commit a file with Windows line endings, and no newline at end of file as rev0.
* Commit a change to the last line (still no newline at the end of file) as rev1.
* Export a patch from rev0 to rev1.
* Update to rev0.
* Apply that patch. This only works because the patch contains mixed line endings.
* Revert to a clean rev0.
* Modify the patch to all Windows line endings.
* Apply that patch. This fails!
E.g. SVN exports such patches with all Windows line endings.
E.g. GNU patch can apply those patches.
TortoiseHG Apply Patch can not apply those patches.

After updating from TorteiseHg 3.3.3 to 3.4, my usual "hg pull" was unexpectedly answered with an "abort: no compatible bindings available:" error message.
### Why this is bad ###
* I wasn't warned(*) that a feature I use becomes unavailable. It was just suddenly broken, interrupting my work.
* The message doesn't indicate that the removal was intentional - I figured this had to be a bug and downgraded to wait for the next release to fix it.
* Apparently, there's no easy way to get the missing bindings back.
* For users evaluating hg against "that other very popular DVCS", where interacting with SVN just works, this is a huge downside.
(*) It is mentioned on the first line of the release notes. While it is my fault to not read them before updating, I still think the software should clearly communicate the removal as well.
### Suggestions for improvement ###
* Detect if the user had the hgsubversion extension enabled and react accordingly: As absolute minimum, tell about the removal. This should at least be done on installation, if possible also when hgsubversion commands are invoked.
* Either provide an easy "one-click solution" to install the bindings or just do so automatically if hgsubversion was enabled.
* Don't make it sound so grim: The libsvn page makes it seem like all hope is lost if you want to install the bindings yourself ("Windows builds ... are not easy to come by", "64-bit builds are much less common", "'frozen' Python environment", etc.), and that the bindings you offer for download are unsafe ("security problems in the subversion DLLs "). In essence, this tells me "don't bother", with a little bit of "maybe look somewhere else" (see "Why this is bad"). I believe this is a bad impression to make.
Kind regards

I am using mercurial 1.6.4 and TortoiseHG 1.1.4. When I do a commit on a master repo it sometimes shows some of the sub-repos as dirty, even though there are no changes in them.
In one case it just checked in an empty changeset in only one of the three sub-repos that it indicated were dirty and thus triggred a change to the .hgsubstate file in the master as well. The funny thing is that THG claimed "No changes" when we told it to comming, yet checking the repo history it is clear that an empty changeset was created.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/1677Wrong icon overlays2020-06-21T10:13:14ZBitbucket ImporterWrong icon overlays*Created originally on Bitbucket by Anonymous*

I'm running THG (2.0.5 and 2.3.0) on my two computers with Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64, and the same weird problem is found on both: the icon overlays of all files and folders are icons of general files (the first icon in SHELL32.dll). It seems that the icon overlay server did not find the location of correct icons.
P.S. Icon overlays of repository folder don't appear if the repository is in a mapped network drive. For repositories in local drives (even ramdisks) the icon overlays appear, although with wrong icons.

Hi! Sorry for the lousy description. I got a new computer with Win 8.1 and installed TortoiseHG 3.1.1.
The issue is that the overlay icons only show in the nav pane (also the modified icons don't show at all). Hopefully the screenshot below describes the issue better than I do :)
Thanks for an excellent product!

This is a weird bug. Looks like an evolve bug, but it is reproducible only in TortoiseHg. Only if the **strip was made by TortoiseHg**. And only for 'pull' in TortoiseHg
it cannot be reproduced in the operations system console.

Now, they are shown as a deleted and an added line.
So, if I add an `if()` statement to wrap a block of code, and consequently indent the whole block, I will see a diff in which the whole block is replaced by a new block (with only the indentation changed).
If there is a setting for this, which I don't know of and never touched, then either the setting is new and the default value is wrong, or the default was changed to the wrong default value.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/5603Crash on visual diff2020-08-20T02:52:10ZPer FranckCrash on visual diffattempting to "diff to local" by right clicking file in other branch changeset.

It would be useful to have an option that would ask for username on every commit.
In an environment with shared computers that don't have personal user accounts, the person performing the commit can be different every time.
Currently, the user needs to open Settings and change the username, which is an extra step that's extremely easy to forget. It would be handy to force TortoiseHg to prompt for it every time.
Setting ui.askusername isn't helpful - it only prompts if the username isn't set, but then it saves the username and doesn't ask again.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/4589Branch selection textbox should filter branches using fuzzy matching2020-06-21T11:02:21ZBitbucket ImporterBranch selection textbox should filter branches using fuzzy matching*Created originally on Bitbucket by [balta2ar (Yuri Bochkarev)](https://bitbucket.org/%7B22e572cd-448a-4b37-a1be-01193e341f5b%7D/)*

Please filter branch suggestions in the branch selection textbox using a fuzzy matching.
At the moment, it looks like the filtering is performed using a variant of `startswith`, which is not helpful in my case. I have a ton of branches and they all have a numerical prefix RT123456_implement_some_feature. I can remember part of the branch name but there is no way I can remember the numerical code in the beginning. Fuzzy matching will be very helpful in this case.

I am running Windows 10 build 1709 on a system with a 4k main monitor running at 175% and two smaller monitors set to 100%. I notice that you have made thg high DPI aware, and have also made it monitor aware (judging by the crispness of the fonds on the second and third monitors).
However, while the program looks beautiful on the main 4K display, if I drag it onto one of the others, something goes wrong with the font scaling as the attached image demonstrates.
It looks like you have detected the change of monitor, but only some of the fonts have been resized for the new DC, resulting in a rather strange-looking display. AFAICT, the fonts that appear too large on the secondary monitors are unchanged in pixel size from their size on the 4k screen.

Committing using the hg cli works just fine. This makes tortoisehg more or less non-functional.

On Windows, renaming a patch in TortoiseHg can delete the patch.
To reproduce:
1. Create a patch in TortoiseHg.
2. Right-click the patch, select Modify History, Rename Patch..
3. Rename the patch with a name that only varies in case.
3. A warning dialog is displayed saying the patch already exists (unfortunately my coworker didn't read it too closely).
4. Select overwrite existing patchfile.
5. Thg displays "abort: the system cannot find the file specified". The patch is deleted. Work is lost.
From watching the filesystem with SysInternals Procmon, it looks like THG is deleting the "patch that already exists" not realizing that it is the original patch since Windows is case-insensitive. It then spawns hg.exe to rename the patch but it is gone.
On Windows, at least, checking that the old and new names don't match with a case-insensitive compare would prevent lost work.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/5252Visual diff: ProgrammingError: symbol was not a string, did you mean repo[sym...2020-06-21T11:16:20ZBitbucket ImporterVisual diff: ProgrammingError: symbol was not a string, did you mean repo[symbol]?*Created originally on Bitbucket by [muxator](https://bitbucket.org/%7Ba8e26999-b8c4-423e-aeaa-3a23b9a940a0%7D/)*

When you have a lot of repositories in the registry, it's painful to locate the one you want to open by scanning the list.
You should be able to:
- hit Ctrl+F (when the left panel with the list of repos is focused, at least)
- type something
- repositories whose name contain the string you have typed should be highlighted, one of them selected, and Ctrl+G should bring you to the next (and the number of items found and the index of the one currently selected should be shown, as in any Ctrl+F quick-find search in any modern UI).
Nowadays, it's unforgivable for an UI to not have a quick-find (usually Ctrl+F) in EVERY list/panel/screen that shows items containing text.https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/5611dulwich dropped2020-08-31T07:21:32ZJacQue FreScodulwich dropped| ??? | https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/commit/b4dd40257243eb4c2443ae36540a6540e023d3ed|

2) Then I can select that bookmark in "Synchronize"->"[x] Target: mybookmark".
3) Then I click "Incoming" to check what will be pulled.
4) Then I click "Pull".
But sometimes step 3) removes the bookmark from "[x] Target: mybookmark", so step 4) pulls everything instead of just the bookmark! This seems quite misleading / inconvenient / error prone.
(Maybe this happens only when the local bookmark is created on a changeset that is not an ancestor of the remote bookmark?)

Was trying to add a Remote Repository to a very recently created project using ssh:
{{{
hostname: ssh://hg3.xp-dev.com/
port: (blank)
path: ABCdefg (not the actual name, but cased the same

The line specifying remote repository had:
Remote Repository: {{{ssh://ssh://hg3.xp-dev.com//ABCdefg}}}
Changing the hostname entry to - hg3.xp-dev.com - resolved the issue. It's more a user error than anything else, but either trimming those characters or providing a more intuitive error message would be helpful. This error is generated in certain cases where the Outgoing command is run with a "Target" branch specified.
**Setup:**
{{{
#!shell
rm -rf test
mkdir test
cd test
hg init repo1
echo hello > repo1/test.txt
hg ci --addremove -m commit1 -R repo1
hg clone repo1 repo2

hg branch -R repo1 test_branch
hg ci -R repo1 --addremove -m commit2
cd ..
}}}
With the above setup, repo2 has all the changesets in repo1 default. However, it does not have the "test" branch.
To trigger the error, do the following:
# Open thg for repo1
# Open the Sync window
# Set the "Remote Repository" to repo2
# Enable the "Target" checkbox
# Select the "default" branch as the target
# Click the "Outgoing" button
The above causes the following traceback:

On a side note, i notice that issue <<issue 177>> and <<issue 299>> are marked as solved but, when I tried with the last release(2.0.2) there is still no direct way of set the current bookmark in the bookmark dialog. is there something i am missing?

Hi There
I noticed that if I have the windows system variable called HTTP_PROXY set that everytime I try to do an action like clone/pull/push I have to try twice as the first time always fails.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set the system variable HTTP_PROXY to a valid proxy server.
2. Open up the TortoiseHG syncronize window.
3. Click the Incoming button.
4. Verify that the call fails with an error.
5. Click the Incoming button again.
6. Verify that the call suceeds.
7. It is correctly disabled when entering the first character in the hostname input field or when changing the protocol to e.g. "http" and then back to "local".https://foss.heptapod.net/mercurial/tortoisehg/thg/-/issues/129"Show patches" option in the sync dialog2020-06-21T09:41:15ZBitbucket Importer"Show patches" option in the sync dialog*Created originally on Bitbucket by [Jean-Pierre Bergamin](https://bitbucket.org/%7B126a76f3-d46b-4e68-b1a1-0740bfa2151c%7D/)*

In the Sync tab, the default url for the svn repo is not read correctly from the config file. It is stored there correctly however.
The entry is:
{{{
default = file:///C:/DEV/SVN/svnrepo
}}}
and is shown correctly in the QLineEdit from where one can save it.
But the left hand list widget in the sync tab shows it as:
{{{
default = file:/C%3A/DEV/SVN/svnrepo
}}}
So using it for push or pull yields the error:
{{{

This exception occurs every time I select the "Synchronize" button in the task toolbar.
The repository is on the local harddrive and the master repository is on the network. When I open up my local clones of http://selenic.com/hg or http://bitbucket.org/tortoisehg/thg and activate the "Synchronize" button everything works fine.
BTW, why was the button order in the Task Toolbar changed? The "MQ Patch" button was moved before the "Synchronize" button. But in my opinion the most used commands should come first. Is it possible to remove the Patch button completely (we do not use patch queues at all) as a configuration option?
I will reinstall tortoiseHg 2.0.5 now, because this bugs prevents me syncing with my coworkers:-(
