Allow partial commits when creating a new patch from TortoiseHg Workspace.
Created originally on Bitbucket by jurko (Jurko Gospodnetić)
When you have Mercurial queues enabled you can use TortoiseHg Workspace to create new patches (QNew
button label) just like you can use it to create ordinary commits (Commit
button label).
There is a difference though that seems to be TortoiseHg specific - you can select only some of the changes to commit by checking them in the bottom left part of the Workspace, but you can do this only when preparing a true commit (Commit
). When preparing a new patch (QNew
) - the selection checkboxes are not there and you can only choose to prepare a patch containing all of the changes.
A workaround is to do a true commit containing only selected changes and then convert that commit to a patch afterwards, but the whole issue seems like an unnecessary/unexpected difference.
My suggestion is to add those same code selection checkboxes when creating a new patch (QNew
) just this is done for regular commits (Commit
). That seems like a usability improvement with no unwanted side-effects.
Hope this helps.
