Error on restarting an existing branch

The following error occurs when you try to reuse an existing branch name:

Reproduction:
- Open an existing repository in the workbench.
- Commit to a named branch, (MyBranchName in the example).
- Update back to a different branch, e.g. default.
- Commit again using the same named branch as in step 2.
- The above error message occurs, the commit is not executed.
