Pip install without '--no-binaries :all: ' option misleading to different libffi version in Raspbian
Hello all, this may sound aloof but while I was running 'cryptography' pkg I ran into this problem as stated in the title
It is reproducible by following these steps.
- Create virtualenv with pyenv using python 3.9.5
- Pip install cryptography
- Try to import by using this script
from cryptography.fernet import Fernet
This gives the following error
File "/home/pi/.pyenv/versions/test/lib/python3.9/site-packages/cryptography/hazmat/primitives/padding.py", line 11, in <module>
from cryptography.hazmat.bindings._padding import lib
ImportError: libffi.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Importing points to libffi.so.7 even if the latest that I can get from my OS is libffi.so.6 This is causing ImportError
This is the OS environment that I used
(test) pi@raspberrypi:~/repos/eek_ate $ uname -a
Linux raspberrypi 5.10.17-v7l+ #1421 SMP Thu May 27 14:00:13 BST 2021 armv7l GNU/Linux
The only way I got out of this is to use -no-binaries :all:
option when using pip install cffi
Many Thanks,
