Using remote to sync two cameras

Hi I am trying to do stereo 3d video with canon dslrs. The main problem is sync of the exposures. There are existing tools to compare the sync of two free running cameras. But no way to adjust their sync. Now comes my idea: if the cable remote of the 5d could trigger video-shooting it should be easy to build a double trigger for two cams. If we use one power source to turn on the cameras, or build an external switch to turn on the cameras and use the video-out from the cams to check if they started decently synchronous (within a 1/1000) we could do good stereo3d with them. Doing the hardware switching for bootup should be easy, I think to just implement an isolation layer under the battery and bringing the cable out of the battery compartment to an external double transistor/relay... We would need to use the fbas video-out for the sync check and for simple 3d-display , so this would need to be functional again in Magiclantern as well...
