Canon 40d - Update File Error
Hi, I've so far been unsuccessful in trying to install magic lantern on my 40d and now I need some help please.
On my first try I realised I had old firmware on my camera and it needed updating, so now I have V1.1.1 which I believe correct for the 40d.
My second attempt I got to a slow flashing blue light because I hadn't used EOScard... (I know, lots of mistakes!)
My third attempt I got to a solid blue light but didn't quite understand what to do next... This is where I think I've caused the problem. I thought it hadn't worked again and I can't quite remember what I did after this but it obviously wasn't the "remove and replace battery" step.
Now every time I select to update firmware I get "Update File Error. Please check the memory card and reload the battery and try again." Even when trying to reload Canon firmware.
I have tried;
- Formatting two CF cards and starting again.
- Charging both my canon batteries to full.
- as the message suggests, reseating the card and then replacing the battery but it just reboots the camera.
- Re-extracted the files and replaced the files on the CF card after formatting again.
- Completely reset camera by removing both batteries for 15 minutes.
The camera still works as you'd expect, and photos are recorded to card ok. I just can't work out what I've done and if the damage is irreversible. Please help!
