Some way to clear password (and maybe detect the need to clear it)

Created originally on Bitbucket by Mekk (Marcin Kasperski)

On one of the *verflows I saw someone reporting problem with changed password on website (he or she used mercurial_keyring in the past, changed password, now the plugin still forces old password). As it was Windows, there was no GUI tool which could be used to clear this password.

Things to consider:

  1. Some explicit command to clear the password (this would be also helpful for scenarios like „I clear credentials from my laptop…”).

  2. Checking whether logic to detect authorization failures and re-ask for for a password really works.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
