Mouse input stops working and repo disappears from list
Created originally on Bitbucket by arganoid (Andrew Gillett)
A few days ago TortoiseHg Workbench and several other pieces of software suddenly became unusable. They all exhibit very similar issues involving mouse input. The other programs are GIMP, MonoDevelop and QGIS. I understand they all use the GTK+ library for their GUIs; I don't know if TortoiseHg does.
When I open the workbench, I can initially click anywhere, but once I've clicked on a particular part of the GUI (e.g. menu bar, toolbar or repository registry), I can no longer click anywhere other than the same GUI group that I just clicked. Additionally, if I double-click to open a repository, sometimes that repository disappears from the list, and I have to re-add it. On one occasion when this happened, I got the following error report:
#!python

Keyboard controls continue to work, although tabbing through the controls is no longer possible once the commit message edit box has been reached, so the software remains largely unusable.
I also noticed that if I start the software and view a repository, then tab to select an area other than the repository registry, subsequent clicks will act as if I'd clicked in the repository registry, regardless of where I clicked.
As for what might have caused this, before this and the other software stopped working, I installed a printer driver, a USB Wi-Fi driver and a Bluetooth headset driver. I had also disconnected and reconnected various USB devices in different ports. I have tried shutting down all other software, including the processes and services for the recently installed drivers. The only thing which has worked for me so far was to login as a different user – at this point all the problems went away, even after I then logged back in as myself (without restarting the PC).
Here are some links of people discussing the same bug in other GTK+ based software: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1131428 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=687624 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=694401
I will also report this to the GTK+ team, but it would be interesting to see if any other TortoiseHg users have seen this bug, and to know if anyone has a workaround.
