Too much information lost when saving workbook
Created originally on Bitbucket by spitfire_ch (Pesche Helfer)
When trying to use openpyxl to update a rather complex excel report, I realized that lots of information is lost after saving the workbook using wb.save(). This includes: • Color settings of charts (some look the same, some slightly different, others totally different) • shapes that were added to charts (lines, labels, boxes etc.) • axis labels • width of the chars (probably as a result of the missing axis labels) • charts now have a border although it was set to none in the original • colored text within cells (e.g. one red word within a text cell) • all equations were transformed to values
As xlsx files are just an archive of xml information: would it be possible to only exchange the parts that have changed and copy all the remaining files (within the archive) from the original file? (e.g. copy all the charts\chart##.xml files from the original instead of creating a new, incomplete version).
