Zero time values are still an issue
As already discussed in some issues here (#1043 (closed), #674 (closed)), zero datetimes are still an issue for this library. And yes, I do understand that excel has a buggy system for handling times, but it would be great if there would be a workaround for this. Setting the iso_dates
property to True
does not work in all cases (results in #VALUE!
in Excel Mac 2016) and just not handling 0
time values is neither an option sometimes.
I currently work with a sheet that contains these kind of values (00:00:00
) and after processing the sheets, the values are all stored as -1
, even I did not touch them (through my code). The times I am actually writing (cell(row=1, column=1, value=datetime.time())
) are stored correctly, but because openpyxl is reading / parsing the original cells as datetime.datetime
, instead of datetime.time
, they get written as a -1.
Is it possible to disable parsing of datetimes, until I really would like to parse it (lazy parsing)? Or add an option to parse some cells as time, instead of datetime?
