Add OpenDocument format support? Excel now defaulting to saving files in .ods format
I noticed a few weeks ago that Microsoft Excel has begun defaulting to saving files in the "OpenDocument Spreadsheet (*.ods)" format.
I cannot tell if this change was made by a Microsoft update, or was enforced by the organization I work for. If it was Microsoft, I guess we should cheer them for embracing an open standard - OpenDocument Technical Specification, but on the other hand it means that a lot of documents will require conversion before they can be used with the multitude of existing openpyxl-based tools. For example, I'm quite fond of sheet2dict, but a lot of Excel users I work with won't think twice before saving files. I recognize that there are Python libraries which support ods files, such as this one pyexcel-ods3, but refactoring programs to use them requires effort. I recognize this might seem like a trivial inconvenience, but the time lost multiplied across humanity will not be insignificant.
Therefore, I wonder, is it time for openpyxl to consider adding ods functionality?
I apologize if this question has been answered elsewhere; I did a search of the issues, but it did not turn up any results.
