Type of data validation being removed when saving excel file
Hello! I've dug deep on this issue and I cannot find the answer.
I have an excel workbook that contains cells of data validation which imports the values for the list from another sheet in the workbook. For example, in the data validation window for one of the cells, the selection is "List" and the source is "=lookups!$A2:
A$5" where "lookups" is the name of the sheet.
I have no problem reading in the data in these windows, but I am trying to edit the excel file and re-save the file. When I re-save the file, those drop downs and the notes attached to them are removed.
If I instead change the list in the data validation to be a simple comma separated list rather than referencing the other sheet it works with no problems. It can both be read and saves with the validation still in place.
I have tried to see what data validations are on that sheet using: print(sheetName.data_validations) and if I manually enter the list, I get the printout as expected and when it's referencing the other sheet there is no output (I guess also "as expected" since it's re-saving the file without that validation in it).
So, all that to ask, is there a reason openpyxl wouldn't be able to see data validation if it's a reference to another sheet?
Thanks so much for any insight, Leah
